About
I'm David Finkelstein. I've spent most of my career designing and building enterprise systems — from CTO of a tech startup to Application Architect at L'Oréal USA to a long tenure at Brinks Home, where I advanced from Technical Lead Developer to Principal Architect.
Along the way, I co-founded Binary Star Solutions and have been running Quarksoft since 2006 — building custom software for businesses that outgrew their off-the-shelf tools.
That career arc means I've watched every major technology wave land inside real organizations. Cloud migration. Microservices. API-first architecture. And now, AI. The pattern is always the same: hype arrives fast, adoption is slow, and the real value shows up where nobody expected it.
The people who navigate this well aren't the ones chasing trends — they're the operators who understand how the business actually works. That's the perspective I write from. Not theory. Not predictions. Observations from inside the machine.
What I Write About
- Agentic AI & Workforce Transformation — How AI agents are replacing workflows, not jobs. What actually works when you try to adopt AI inside a large organization.
- Physical AI & Robotics — The convergence of digital intelligence and physical systems. What happens when AI gets a body.
- Custom Software vs. Monolithic SaaS — Why one-size-fits-all platforms are becoming the new legacy, and what comes next.
- Operations & Systems Thinking — Architecture lessons from watching technology decisions compound over a decade.
- Sustainable Technology — Practical sustainability driven by economics and engineering, not virtue signaling.
